hip replacement – endoprosthetics

deploying state-of-the-art systems

Where hip replacement procedures are concerned, Dr Knipprath focuses on detailed medical history and comprehensive examination of the patient. It is particularly important to obtain a precise picture of the extent of the joint damage. For a hip joint replacement, the choice of implant type depends crucially on the individual requirements and needs of the patient.

State-of-the-art prosthesis systems are deployed:

1. Standard-stem

Standard-stem prostheses are, in anatomical terms, cement-free and cemented hip stems used in combination with a so-called press-fit cup and different tribological (sliding) pairings.

2. Short-stem

The short-stem prosthesis is an extremely bone-friendly variant, used in combination with the press-fit cup and ceramic-ceramic tribological pairings.

3. Revision-stem

Revision-stem prostheses are used where a replacement is necessary.

Dr Johannes Knipprath has proven expertise and many years of experience in the field of hip joint replacement. He played a key role in the development of an anatomical hip stem system that guarantees excellent stability. The implant can be fitted in the course of a minimally invasive procedure and can also be used in patients with low bone mass (osteoporosis) without the use of bone cement. It is because of these characteristics that the hip-stem is patent-protected, Dr Knipprath, together with the manufacturer, holding the European, German, and British patents.
